Myths about Hypnotherapy
You would be forgiven for thinking that hypnotherapy was nothing more than a form of entertainment used to wow audiences, making participants sing like Elvis or cluck like a chicken! You would also be forgiven for thinking that your therapist will open the door in a magic cloak, waving a pocket watch shouting sleep now!
The reality is that these images are all from stage and screen made for your entertainment and with little basis in the reality of hypnotherapy. Whilst on stage the hypnotist aims to control the subject, however, in therapy the opposite is true. The use of hypnotherapy provides you with the ability to control your own future and make the changes you want to make. Hypnotherapy is an established part of therapy programmes designed to help you manage the difficulty of change. At the JGS Foundation our promise to you is that we will never ask you to do or say anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, or that is against your own moral, ethical or religious belief systems.
