Could Bad Hair Days Be A Thing of The Past?

18th June 2008

The way we feel about ourselves can be influenced dramatically by the way we feel about our hair.  The phrase ‘bad hair day’ is used to sum up a day when nothing has gone to plan, from first waking to finally tumbling back into bed.

It’s most often used humorously however, by people who don’t know what a bad hair day can really mean.

The Brookdale Clinic is pleased to announce that Trichologist Mike Ryan has joined its ranks of healthcare specialists.  Trichology is the study of problems affecting the hair and scalp, such as hair loss or itchy flaky scalps.

Mike Ryan is Cheshire's first fully qualified Trichology practitioner.

For those people who suffer from sudden inexplicable hair-loss or itchy, flaky scalps bad hair days can be every day.   Unfortunately, people suffering from hair and scalp conditions often find their concerns dismissed or misunderstood by their doctor, that’s if they’ve even sought medical advice in the first place.

But now there is someone who can help.  Michael Ryan is a fully qualified Trichologist (expert in the field of hair and scalps) and the first practitioner in Cheshire to offer advice, support and treatment for hair and scalp conditions.

“There are many reasons why people may have developed problems with hair-loss or their scalps.  They can be in response to stress, diet, environment, hormonal changes or even genetic.  I can identify the specific condition and, where possible, implement a course of treatment to resolve it.”

Michael has over 25 years experience of working with hair and has seen the distress and anxiety that can result from hair loss or scalp problems.

“I trained as a Trichologist after many years in the hairdressing education industry. Hair stylists see clients suffering with unidentified problems and do not fully understand these conditions.  Many problems can be easily resolved or managed, once they’ve been correctly diagnosed.

“Some can’t be cured of course, but often the symptoms can be eased, which can make a massive difference to how the individual feels about themselves.”
